You can now join one of our scheduled Katberg overnight history tours – no need to get your own group together!
Once a month we have a committed Katberg weekend tour perfect for solo travellers, couples, or small groups who want to experience the magic of our guided Katberg tour without the need to coordinate a full group. Simply book a seat on one of our set monthly weekends and get hooked on history.
Discover the untamed spirit of the 1700 and 1800s when Dutch Farmers, British soldiers, immigrants, and European explorers ventured to the southernmost tip of the African continent. They arrived in a land where the spiritual San people and the mighty AmaXhosa thrived, and what they encountered in this vast landscape surpassed their wildest dreams.
This tour offers a rare and unique insight into their lives, the profound impact of Eastern Cape’s proud history, and its far-reaching consequences.
What you’ll need
Prepare for an adventure. You’ll need a high-clearance vehicle, as we’ll be exploring off-the-beaten-track sites. If you are travelling alone without a vehicle you’ll grab a ride with Alan.
Each vehicle will be equipped with handheld two-way radios for commentary and coordination. Don’t forget to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring along your sense of adventure.
(If you are inbound from overseas or do not own a high-clearance vehicle, we can arrange both vehicles and drivers if over 3 pax and cost this as an additional fee to your tour).
